The year is rushing past, it’s June already!!! The last few months have been busy with a number of new members joining up to learn to spin, we’ve had numerous workshops – a comfort animals workshop, a weaving workshop, an entralac knitting workshop, and an outing to the Millewa Wool Day. We’ve had more fiber and equipment donated, and more enquiries coming in from our Social Media pages.
Workshops have been well patronised, and have resulted in a number of completed items. Our Comfort Creations have been greatly appreciated by the relevant emergency services they were donated to.
It has become obvious that many of our members cannot be trusted to restrain themselves at Wool Days, and the comparisons of the quality of new aquisitions by origin and compared to last year has been very interesting.
Show & Tell over the last two months has been busy and colourful …
Cheers all,
KathyW, Editor.

This year’s workshop concentrated on knitted entralac, with some wonderful samples of member’s finished pieces to inspire. A number of keen members tried their hand at learning the technique.

This was a wonderful exercise in the amazing array of pattern effects that can be achieved using only two colours in the warp and weft and only plain weave.
Well the rains have come. A good start with over 40mm a few weeks ago and a follow-up 10+mm falling as I write. Grass is trying to germinate, nettles are starting to take off (makes for a tasty omlet!) and most of the decidious trees have lost their leaves.
With things previously so dry and no grass growing, every breeze bought a bonanza of falling autumn leaves for the sheep and they would race each other to catch and eat this tasty bounty. The alpacas were practicing their tree-climbing skills – balancing on their hind legs to reach their equally long necks way up into the pine trees and tree lucerne, pulling down mouthfulls of leaves and small branches.
But now it’s officially winter, with the cold, wet and windy days that can bring.
This morning the barn cat refused to leave the shed, preferring to perch on top of the hay bales and preen herself. The alpacas and sheep had all high-tailed it into their respective shelters and were grateful to be fed under cover.
By lunch time and after some time grazing on what they could find in the paddocks, they were all quite damp. But we need the rain. It should in time bring a flush of green to the paddocks after such a long dry.

A few housekeeping items:
1 – Some members have been getting spam type emails saying they are coming from Guild members. If anyone gets a suspicious looking message, do not open it or any links within it.
2 – Please do not park in front of the Guild’s side double doors. This could cause a problem in the case of an emergency. Please park in the undercover area well clear of the doors and grandstand stairs, or on the grass area.
3 – The drain area outside the Guild door that fills up with water when it rains is becoming DANGEROUS with one of our members slipping in the mud and algae growing there. PLEASE KEEP WELL CLEAR OF THE DRAIN AND MUD even when it appears dry!
Newsletter contributions are always welcome. So, if anyone has anything they want to contribute, or requests for articles, email me!
Cheers for now,
